Four-Criteria Concept Scoring System

Reusability

A systematic method to evaluate video concepts on hook strength, pattern interrupt, emotional trigger, and algorithm fit, each scored 1-10.

How It Works

Breaks down viral potential into measurable components that can be objectively assessed, allowing for data-driven content decisions rather than gut feelings.

Components

1

Score hook strength (1-10): How attention-grabbing are the first 3 seconds

2

Score pattern interrupt (1-10): How well does it break expected viewing patterns

3

Score emotional trigger (1-10): Does it invoke strong emotional response

4

Score algorithm fit (1-10): Likelihood of high completion rate and shares

5

Calculate average score and rank concepts

6

Select top 2-3 concepts for production

When to Use

When you have multiple video concepts and need to prioritize which ones to produce first based on viral potential.

When Not to Use

When producing evergreen educational content where virality isn't the primary goal, or when you have very limited concepts to choose from.

Anti-Patterns to Avoid

Scoring based on personal preference rather than audience psychologyIgnoring low-scoring concepts that might have niche appealNot considering platform-specific algorithm preferences

Example

A startup founder generates 10 video concepts about SaaS building. One concept 'Everyone says build MVP, I did opposite and hit $25K MRR' scores 9.75 average because it has strong contradiction hook (10), breaks conventional wisdom (9), triggers curiosity and controversy (10), and fits trending debate format (10).
